Inspired by a 13th-century coin minted in Mardin during the Ilkhanate—the Mongol dynasty founded by Hulagu Khan—this pendant captures a remarkable moment when Mongol rule and the artistic traditions of the Islamic world converged.
The original coin’s time-worn inscriptions and royal titles are preserved in the design, giving the pendant its distinctive, ancient character. Rather than perfecting away its irregularities, each detail celebrates the texture and beauty of an artifact shaped by another era.
Finished with three delicate granulated gold details, the Mardin Coin Pendant transforms an object once passed from hand to hand into a piece made to be carried through generations.
