Why are lab-created gemstones used?
This pendant is made using the traditional sand casting technique, where molten metal is poured directly into a hand-formed sand mold. The extreme heat and pressure involved in this process can damage most natural gemstones. Lab-created stones are used because they can withstand these conditions without cracking or fracturing, making them ideal for the cast-in-place process.

I made this pendant using the ancient technique of sand casting, where molten metal is poured into a sand mold.
Since each mold is used only once and then broken away, no two pieces can ever be identical. The resulting textures and organic details make every pendant a unique expression of the casting process and a one-of-a-kind work of craftsmanship.
